Epic FAIL...

I am probably going to get some interesting feedback on this but I feel it must be said. See that pretty picture up there ^^^^^ ? I have some friends who could pretty much tell you till they were blue in the face that these Sprinkles Cupcakes are the best ever. Well, I decided that I would give them a try this week. I was SOOOOOO excited driving to the store with my sister and we were talking all about the flavors that were available that day and how pretty they are. So we get to the store and some nice young man starts telling us ALL about the cupcakes and totally talking them up. I'm amazed we weren't drooling by the time we finished picking out our flavors. Well, we get back to our homes and I leave Mrs. VKAED with hers and BabyBee and I keep the ones we wanted. I am beyond stoked to try out these cupcakes that are supposed to be so amazing and delicious and make other cupcakes not even comparable. So I grab my Vanilla cupcake. Yes. Vanilla. I unfolded the wrapper and broke out my fork and took my frist bite and...................................
BLEH. My actual CAKE part of cupcake was very dry. This was so sad to me! The flavor also wasn't as intense or incredible as I thought it would be. So later that day when my MME sister was home we decided to give the Red Velvet a shot. It definitely and completely made up for that Vanilla's pathetic-ness. That was yesterday. Today I was really excited to try the Lemon Cocnut one. So I put it on a plate and cut it into quarters in case other family members wanted to try it. Alas, that cupcake CAKE was Vanilla. FAIL. The icing was Lemon Coconut. I wish I could say that the icing made up for the cake part but I honestly don't think it did. Maybe my expectations were too high or maybe the cupcakes had an off day. Either way I am NOT a Sprinkles convert and still much prefer my own family's cupcakes to theirs. Feel free to hate but it must be said. Epic fail Sprinkles......... **hangsmyheadinmyhands**

  1. your totally right! I thought the red velvet was ok but the cake part was so dry! I liked the frosting they might as well be selling the freaking frosting as far as I'm concerned.

  2. I would have to agree! The experience was a must-it was fun to take part in something so hypey. And they sure are pretty! And I loved that they asked us the occasion we were celebrating and slapped on an appropriate sticker. But yeah, at the end of the day I would prefer a funfetti cupcake or anything from a grocery store... Go ahead call me a hick...

  4. TOTALLY agree. My work brings them in every now and then so I have tried them multiple days - they didn't just have an off day. The only one worth anything is Red Velvet and even then it's nothing ground breaking. Home-made cupcakes are WAY better.

  5. Um AGREED. I think I go there just for the cupcake's presentation. They LOOK awesome but...I could make cheaper and better tasting cupcakes then that nationwide company. You are one of many. NO WORRIES!

  7. Oh but i will say I go for the frosting. The cake part on some of them is good but I can't stand the red velvet cake, or chocolate marshmallow cake. bleh!

  8. I laughed and laughed when I read this. Of COURSE you didn't like their cupcakes. That's because YOU are the master cupcake/cake baker. You have high standards and exquisite taste. You, my dear, simply know too much. It would be like Gordon Ramsey eating at McDonald's. ;)
