Comparing.......

In life when things happen you often reflect on similar experiences in your past and compare. I have been doing this a LOT more as of late. When I was expecting my BabyBee I was practically DYING some days. Very, very much so. This pregnancy around could not be more different. I got sick 1 day and it was the same day that all my sisters who were in town got sick too. We voted it was food related. This is a nice improvement let me tell ya. I am NOT complaining. Ha ha. Other things I have noticed is this time around I am way more thirsty. I am constantly needing a drink. With lots and lots of ice. I heart ice. However there have been harder parts too. With the BabyBee having Down syndrome, I have been "advised" to get lots more testing than before. More blood draws, more blood DRAWN during blood draws and last but not least AMNIO. Bleeeeeeh. Amnio is when a needle gets inserted into your uterus through your abdomen and a sample of amniotic fluid is drawn so the doctors can look at the babies genetic make-up. My mom and older sister let me know that the earlier it gets done the less painful it is. But that does NOT mean that it doesn't hurt. I am a big fat baby and am proud to say that I didn't cry (a miracle for certain) but I may have squeezed hubby's hand a wee bit harder than he would have liked. Besides that pain and the fact that I spent 3 hours at the stupid doctor's office it was a relief to get it over with. It also made me nervous though. You see this baby is "normal". It doesn't have any genetic abnormalities or extra chromosomes. And let me tell you. After 14 months with the BabyBee as an example I am apprehensive towards a "normal" baby. I like that my BabyBee is mellow and chill and goes with the flow. I LOVE IT. And I have this feeling that because he is so nice this new kid is going to be extra crazy just to make up for his sweetness. SCARY.

Enough about me though. That nice little BabyBee had a bad day last week so we took him to the doctor and woudn't you know he has a double ear infection?!?! Poor kid. That makes 5 infections in less than 7 months. So next week we get to have a consult with the ENT specialist to make an appointment to get some tubes. Super fun. He has also started cruising along our couches and wants to be walked everywhere. It is his favorite activity. He learned another new trick that has already shortened my life by probably 10 years. THE STAIRS. I have yet to get a picture but this naughty baby of mine has started mastering the climbing of stairs. This would probably not be as big of a deal for a baby who is further ahead developmentally but the BabyBee doesn't make a connection between falling and pain as quickly as I would like. Hence my panic attacks when I hear him grunting and panting and turn to see his little chubby legs trying desperately to push his body to that next step.

That's pretty much our lives in a nutshell for now. You're welcome for the update. And I DO have pictures but am being way too lazy to search through them so there.

p.s. BabyBee is going as a pumpkin for Halloween! toooooo cute. Also yes. I am pregnant and waited until AFTER getting my amnio to announce it on the internet. I am now 27 weeks. How's that for keeping a secret?! HA

  8. Hey, about the mellow kiddo thing--my first was a way mellow baby, even though he is also "normal". Some kids just have that personality. Don't worry too much about the next one being crazy. My second one actually has been a little all over the place but everyone has their own personality! How boring would it be if every single person/baby was just chill all the time or whatever, you know? It's been fun to have two opposites in personality :) Don't worry, it'll work out as you get to know your next one, even if they are bouncing off the walls ;)

  9. Congrats that is so exciting. Yes you will end up with at least one kid that bounces off the walls. I'm a proud mother of two bouncers.
