CT + Blankies = Worst Enemies

Baby Bee(CT) has 2 holes in his heart which makes it harder for his blood to circulate and to get to his little hands and feet so, the Worker Bee and I try to keep him covered up as much as possible. WELL! Baby Bee and the blankie are apparently having some kind of quarrel and Blankie is losing HORRIBLY. This is how we put Baby Bee to bed:

Doesn't he look so comfortable all snuggled up? Why yes, yes he does. However.... Baby Bee doesn't share the same feelings about the blankie that I do. And within 5 minutes of getting put down for bed after some grunting, groaning and MAJOR kicking(like a NINJA!),has gone from the above picture to this:

I know, I know... It doesn't seem like that big of a deal. But when I go to wake him up to eat at 2 a.m. I am greeted by ice cold little hands and feet that are almost purple! Oh my goodness! I know we live in AZ but it is NOT that warm at night and our AC isn't turned down THAT much, hence the need for Blankie. Plus he is a baby! They are supposed to L O V E being all snuggled up. Oh well... the fight continues. P.S. don't you all LOOOOOOOOOVE how I am making the Baby Bee's bed be MY favorite colors?! muwah ha ha ha ha ha!

  1. Good Luck keeping him "under wraps" as i could never keep his father under a blanket! Therefore I sweitched to blanket sleepers and fooled him. He use to travel the crib at night. then he graduated to sleepwalking.

  2. Try swaddling, or the sleep blankets! Or just heaver PJ's then you won't have to worry about him getting cold, just hot! I would love to make you a sling!I have more of the fabric I just used, but if you think that it's too girly I can pick something else. Your baby is so cute! I love the hair!

  4. Layers. lots of layers. And have Mom show you how to wrap him TIGHT. Otherwise, you need to get the pajama's with feet, or the sleeper jammies (it looks like a big potato sack.)

  6. Okay, my kid was born in December and he HATES blankets. I was always worried about him getting sick! BUt even from day one out of the womb he would wiggle his arms out of being swaddled. I would just suggest to put him in something that is warm (except its too hot out to think of warm now so translation:dont worry about it.) But when it gets cold just put him in warm jammies. Nixon still wont sleep with a blanket on him and you know, if he really doesnt want it, and I cant keep getting up all night to check on him, then why push it?

  9. BLANKET SLEEPERS! the answer to this problem.

my Scarlett is nearly 3 and still can never keep herself covered up, So I dress her in warm footie jammies or Long pants and long sleeved shirts when we put her to bed. Then I don't have to wake up in the night, TERRIFIED that she is cold or getting sick.

In summertime you can get the cotton ones, they are less hot, and on those FEW cold nights, you can use like the fleecy or flannel-y footie jammies. I will admit I lazily did not read all the other comments, but I hope this helps :)

  10. Hi! My name is Shelly. I have a 14 month old boy with Down. He is the light of my life. I would love to be friends and share stories and tips. I know I might sound like a creep and I'm NOT but I know it helps to have someone who knows where you are and things that go on. My email is shellyfreedom@yahoo.com You are a great mom and your little guy is so so beautiful. I love his hair and his chin. I hope to talk to you soon.

  11. Hey QB, swaddling or blanket sleepers are the answer. It's better than blankies cause they increase the chance of SIDS. Eeek! I worry about that a lot. I swaddle my little guy with these awesome blankets that have velcro on them so they stay tight. Beware of overheating though. If he gets sweaty on his back, or if his ears are hot, he's too hot. Well, looks like you've gotten enough advice. Good luck! Laura

  14. Hahaha, that is so funny my son hates blankets too. He hated being swaddled and socks. We've had too stock up on the footy pajamas.
